J. Cole is the truth.
If you haven't heard the boy rap, you're missing out. When I heard Drake for the first time last year, I automatically declared him the savior of hip hop music, this doesn't mean he's the best or I even thought that he could possibly be the best! I'm not taking it back at all but I'm just clarifying that statement. I thought he would open doors for all types of rappers to reach the mainstream. Let's not credit the young boy for doing all of that exactly... but if the public can still manage to purchase so many of his albums in this age of illegal downloads, then he might be onto something.
J. Cole definitely is one of the beneficiaries of Drake's success. I don't think they sound alike or anything; I do think they could make some ill music together though. J. Cole is a bit more raw but he's so versatile that it doesn't matter. I've heard the comparisons to NaS and I completely understand them. NaS has the same versatility and raw talent. J. Cole is a long way away from actually reaching the level of someone like NaS but he is well on his way to stardom.
It also doesn't hurt that Jay-Z is backing him.
