The Dez Bryant Situation

Tonight, I somehow was reminded of the Dez Bryant situation.

If you don't know, you should... Long story short, Dez Bryant was an OSU wide receiver who was a top pick in this year's NFL draft. In a pre-draft interview, the General Manger of the Miami Dolphins, some racist white guy, asked Dez if his mother was a prostitute. Yeah. That actually happened.

Dez Bryant was obviously not selected by the Miami Dolphins. He's a Dallas Cowboy now.

I don't care how you feel about the Miami GM asking that question, but honestly, how could anyone ask that question to another human being? I think this is incredibly insensitive and racist. It's weird watching Michael Wilbon from ESPN getting heated over this and knowing that he wants to drop the r bomb (racism) but can't because it would ruin his career. It's really weird but the word is extremely heavy and can unfortunately hurt both the accused and the accuser. I don't think there are many labels that hurt as powerfully as it does.

And Arizona? It's just gonna be really hard to explain to my kids one day that America first voted a black president into office but then two years later made looking like "an immigrant" means for an identity check.

Alas, being a parent is hard and I do not have to deal with such tasks yet.

If there's anything you take from this rant of mine, remember this: The Miami Dolphins are racist so every time the Jets whoop them it will be that much sweeter.
